Provoke's ultimate goal is to create Government websites that are a carefully crafted balance of aesthetics, well-structured content and usable functionality, while maintaining a high degree of E-Government compliance.
As of January 1st 2007 Public Sector agencies in New Zealand are required to recognise version 3.0 of the newly named "New Zealand Government Web Standards and Recommendations". Those organisations required to comply with these requirements must do so by January 1st 2008. It is our recommendation that Public Sector agencies look at adopting Version 3.0 of the standards as the way forward, rather than focusing efforts on v2.1 of the guidelines, that will soon be outdated.
Key Provoke staff worked with the State Services Commission during preparation of new standards and we now have a proactive program of work surrounding implementation of the latest version, including user research, information architecture, metadata, accessibility and W3C code validation.
We have designed a web guidelines process to ensure nothing is overlooked and all of our Government clients are made fully aware of the compliancy areas covered during any public web development projects.
We are currently developing an E-Government 'wrapper' for MOSS - designed to output W3C compliant code. Working in conjunction with Microsoft Consulting here in New Zealand, this new technology will be designed to integrate seamlessly with the new MOSS platform. Whilst the new Web Standards & Recommendations requirements comprise more than just accessible code, our E-Government 'wrapper' will be developed to help New Zealand Government agencies achieve a suitable level of compliancy - quickly and easily.
