Provoke | Microsoft UCS Platform

Provoke and Fujitsu recently collaborated to implement a cutting-edge Unified Communications Solution to support Provoke's rapid business growth.

The Project

Provoke has grown rapidly since start-up seven years ago, leading to the establishment of a second office in Auckland opening in August 2007. The growth placed pressure on the company's IT infrastructure, requiring investment to manage the company's increasing daily demands and future expansion.

The aging communications tool set, limited to applications and solutions was becoming increasingly frustrating. Employees adopted a mix-and-match approach to communication challenges, including mobile and landline calling, email, Skype and MSN Messenger accounts. Few employees had a dedicated landline, and those that didn't relied heavily on expensive mobile calling. Air travel between offices increased and costs became astronomical.

Provoke engaged fellow Microsoft Gold Partner, Fujitsu to develop a solution to meet these requirements. The complete solution comprised Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007, Microsoft Office Communicator 2007, Exchange Server 2007 and Windows Server 2008, resulting in a full enterprise VoIP deployment and Microsoft Exchange 2007 upgrade with OCS providing presence, instant messaging and rich online collaboration features.

By deploying Microsoft Unified Communications, Provoke has enhanced collaboration between employees across office locations, markedly increasing productivity and reducing operational costs.
